Clockwork

Cy Gorman is a multi-genre, multi-instrumentalist, multimedia artist and producer from Melbourne, Australia. His music has been embraced by Gilles Peterson, Jazzy Jeff, Jimpster, Surprise Chef, Allysha Joy, Crazy P, Richard Dorfmeister, Too Slow to Disco, Bandcamp Weekly, KCRW, Triple J, Soil & Pimp Sessions, Hotel Costes and the labels behind BADBADNOTGOOD, Moonchild, Jordan Rakei and Franc Moody.

Here Cy (pronounced as in cy-borg) reveals another side of the hypersoul, genre fluid, technicolour sound of his forthcoming album 'Hiwave'. 'Clockwork' is the sound of wonder channeled through melody, voice and deep deep bass. The mood moves from charming and playful to ecstatic and finally reflective. The vocals, referencing a number of Cy's musical inspirations, are a duet between Cy and long-time collaborator Christin Deralas, whose credits include work on neo soul, spiritual jazz, broken beat and house tunes by Lance Ferguson, Menagerie, Bennson and others. Cy recalls:

'I met Chrissi studying jazz at the Victorian College of the Arts. I heard her audition through the door and listened in. When she came out, she was unsure of how she'd done, but I just said "you're in".'
